What we offer

  • Small class sizes ensure individual attention and a pleasant learning environment.
  • All our teachers are native German language speakers, and certified by the NSW Department of Education.
  • The curriculum is recommended and approved by the Federal Education Department of Germany as well as by the NSW Department of Education.
  • The School is a member of the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools Inc. and the NSW Department of Education and Training (NSW Community Language Schools Program).
  • HSC testing can be achieved by a proven attendence record of 3 years in the German Saturday School curriculum. This means that, even if the student has had no German lessons in his/her local school, they are qualified to sit for the German HSC exam.
  • As at 2010, we have active classes in Blacktown, Camden, Grays Point, Miranda and Pymble. We also offer on-demand classes at Chester Hill, Collaroy Plateau and Liverpool.

    History

The German Saturday School Sydney Inc. was founded in 1960 by Paul Grunwald and his wife Elisabeth.

Paul led the school until 2002 when he retired and handed it over to Mr Willi Sonntag. On Willi's unexpected passing, Mr Hans-Oscar Baecker took over running the Schools' operations.
